Help us make the park fit for the future. We are fundraising to shape the redesign of Lowndes Park.
Great news! The Masterplan is here.
Friends of Lowndes Park successfully lobbied the Council for a once in 100 year opportunity to to re-imagine our park for us and future generations.
Responsibility for Lowndes Park ultimately lies with Chesham Town Council. We strongly believe that, to avoid a piecemeal approach to investment in the park where old equipment simply gets replaced without thought or new ideas pop up but perhaps in the wrong location, what was needed is a new Masterplan for the entire park space. Such a plan is essential to refresh and rejuvenate the park so that it continues to thrive throughout the twenty-first century.
We’ve been banging this drum since 2017 and promises have been made before.
And finally, it’s here! We helped secure the funding for the Lowndes Park Masterplan.
So, what is the Masterplan?
A specialist company conducted a consultation process with interested groups, surveyed the site and used all existing data and recent surveys to create the plan.
It’s a chance to completely redesign the entire space. To add new elements and improve what’s there already.
- Could we have a new café facility near the playground?
- What about a function room?
- What play equipment should we have and where should it be?
- How will the Chesham Renaissance plans to integrate the park into the town affect the park?
- How could we improve access, navigation and information in the park?
There is so much more Lowndes Park could offer Chesham’s residents.
Let’s be clear…the Masterplan is just that, a plan. It’s a guide and a vision document for the town to use as we make improvements to the park. There is currently no money to deliver this vision.
The only current plan is via the work Love Lowndes is doing to fundraise for the new 5-11’s playground.
