The maintenance of the park is an ongoing challenge. The Friends has raised money to purchase tools and plants for the working parties and a water tap for gardeners. We maintain the Archana Gardens, the Scented garden and area around the performance space.
The scented garden was created in 1956 by Chesham Rotary and included a shelter. It was renovated by the Chesham Society in 1993, when the disintegrating shelter was removed. The garden was intended to provide sensory stimulation for visitors to the park and originally was specifically intended to provide planting which would be attractive to blind visitors. The location is now partially shaded by mature trees that limits the plants will thrive in the area. Archena Gardens are named after a town located in the Murcia region of south-east Spain, with which Chesham was twinned in 1995.
Please join one of our working parties where volunteers get together to help make the park even more beautiful.
